Vocations

Is God calling you to the priesthood or religious life?

Every Christian is called to holiness. Some are called to serve the Church as priests, or to give their whole life to God as religious sisters or brothers. If you feel this call, you are not alone: talk to someone who can help you listen.

The diocesan priesthood

A diocesan priest serves the people of a particular diocese, in communion with the Bishop. Seminarians of the Diocese of Tandag are formed at St. Peter College Seminary in Butuan City and at St. John Vianney Theological Seminary in Cagayan de Oro.

Religious life

Many congregations of men and women serve in Surigao del Sur, from the contemplative Poor Clares of Cantilan to missionary and teaching sisters in our parishes and schools. Each has its own charism and way of life.

First steps

  1. Pray regularly, and take part in the Mass and the life of your parish.
  2. Talk with your parish priest or a sister you trust about what you feel.
  3. Join a vocation seminar or “come and see” activity when one is announced.
  4. Contact the diocese through the Chancery, who will put you in touch with those in charge of vocations.
