The mother church of the Diocese of Tandag and the seat of the Bishop. The parish of San Nicolas de Tolentino in Tandag dates from the Augustinian Recollect mission of 1622, the oldest in Surigao del Sur.
The fiesta of San Nicolas de Tolentino on 10 September is preceded by a nine-day novena, and the traditional blessed bread of St. Nicholas, the Pan ni San Nicolas, is shared with the faithful.
